Planning for an Uncertain Future

Strategic planning can be tough in the current environment. It’s safe to say that whatever you thought your 5-year plan was back in 2021, it looks nothing like what your 2026 is shaping up to be. So how can you possibly go into 2026 with any confidence about the communications/CX environment that will see you into the 21st century’s fourth decade, which will commence within that 3 – 5-year time window?

At least you know your world circa 2030 will heavily involve AI – right?

Even if none other than OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is now calling AI a bubble, that doesn’t mean it’ll disappear. The Internet survived the bursting of more than one bubble; we just came out the other side of each experience thinking differently about the technology, its capabilities, dangers, and opportunities.

In any event, you have to do some strategic planning, and need a grasp of the core technologies and issues that will likely survive whatever the next 3 – 5 years bring. That’s why our fourth track at Enterprise Connect 2026 is on, “Achieving Transformation: Architecting Your 3-5 Year Roadmap.”

We’re hoping to use this track to look at the same core technologies that we’re highlighting throughout the tracks that focus on legacy installed base, implementing new technologies, and supporting the workforce of the future. Whether it’s AI agents, AV capabilities, cybersecurity, or communications networks, the goal of this Achieving Transformation track is to give you the best perspectives we can find on where these technologies and markets are headed.

Some of these perspectives may focus on the technologies themselves, but it’s also going to be important to discuss the ways in which the business and the enterprise IT organization are likely to evolve in the next 3 – 5 years. As I work with the Enterprise Connect Content Advisory Board, our goal for this track will be to program a collection of sessions that help you understand not only what technologies will emerge, but how best to position yourself and your enterprise to leverage them in a world that certainly will look different from today.

I want to close with some exciting news: Registration is now open for Enterprise Connect 2026! We’ve still got a couple of weeks until we can unveil the first program sessions, but that’s coming up soon. If you already know you can make it to Enterprise Connect 2026, March 10 – 12 in Las Vegas, please visit our website, where you can get a sneak peek on some highlights and find event registration. I hope to see you in Las Vegas!
